Containment-Lite

The main purpose of this article is that no one wants to be close with China right now or be neighborly because of the way they have been acting towards recent clients. Because we owe so much debt to china, they have a reason to be aggressive and angry towards us. But, if they at an instance demanded their money from us, I don't think that will go well between  our to countries from now on. Maybe people will be losing their jobs if/when this happens, because the government knows China could do a lot of damage to the United States.

The title "Containment Lite" means that China's neighbors are in no way prepared to protect themselves if China gets mad at them. Also, in a couple years China will have way more money then us and then can over power the United States as well as other countries.

Reflection:
i think that China wants to be able to defend themselves more than any other country so they have more power, even though they are currently doing this i do not agree with them being able to randomly demand their money from us.

Do you believe the hype

This article was about new developed companies and more useful technology in India. The people in India have used their knowledge to find a way to transfer and set up bank accounts onto your phones. This is great for everyone especially for the less fortunate because now their money will be given to them faster and more conveniently. However, it is a huge deal for someone to put all of there trust into someone else with all of there money when at any moment they could take everything and you would be left with no money whatsoever. This happens occasionally to individuals and is sometimes leads into identity theft.

Battle of the Billionaires, India vs. China

1. Who cares about how many people are in India. Why should I care?" Should we care?
Yes we should care about how many people are in India for many reasons. "Together, China and India currently contain nearly two out of every five people in the world." THATS A BIG DEAL! India's population is running very well and successful therefor there will be a rapid increase of population in the next decade and India may someday over power China's population.

2."It's wrong for governments to force families to have small families." Agree?
Yes i agree with this statement because i think anyone should be able to have as many kids as they want weather its one or six kids.  No one in their lifetime should be put a limit on how many children they have.

israelis vs palestinians

In this news article, the conflict is that the Israelis are attacking Palestinian olive pickers in a field next to houses in the village and hurled stones at them. Palestinians pick olives so they can sell them and make more money so they can by a surplus amount of essentials for themselves and their country. The article says that this attack was made during olive season the most important time for the Palestinians in that year, because it is when they make the most money. I think a lot of people are wondering why these people are being attacked. What did they do to deserve this? Is anyone making an effort to help them? This article doesn’t reveal these answers, but everyone is curious what is going on in Palestine. Some of the Israelis are being very aggressive towards the Palestinians. They do not want to listen to anything they say or have problems with. If the Palestinians disagree or argue with the Israelis they tend to act out aggressively. However, some of the people living in Palestine are still unsure about what is going on.

Sunni vs. Shiite

I think not only the government should know the difference between a Sunni and Shiite, but so should everyone else.  Iraq and Iran are Shiite countries by a large population. Sunni’s are a part of Al Qaeda.  Right now the United States of America is fighting a war against Al Qaeda.  Al Qaeda is a very radical group, so they are Sunni. The Sunni and Shiite are two different groups of people who have different views on Muslim faith. It is important for the United States to know a lot about the enemy they are fighting, so they have enough information to be able to defend themselves against them. If the enemy that a country is fighting is not very developed, that country can use its own technology to defeat the enemy. It is important to know what they want from each other so that if they are in war other people can help them win the war. This little information could be what causes the 1,400 year rivalry of the Shiite and the Sunni to finally come to an end. If the all American officials and government don’t know about the information about the difference between Sunni and Shiite then how do we know that we are safe enough to be living without knowing ourselves? If everyone knew more about Sunni, maybe we would be able to end the rivalry that’s going on.  It is mainly important for our F.B.I. officers, C.I.A. officials, and any other branch of government dealing with crime to know the difference between a Sunni and Shiite. This is because we want to protect our country from terrorism and the best way to do this is for everyone to know right away that a Sunni wants to terrorize our country, and a Shiite does not. If we don’t know the difference between them then that just makes our chances slimmer from protecting our country with information and security that knowing what the difference is will provide us.

9/11

9/11’s Impact on Air Travel

After the great tragedy of 9/11, American Airlines are now considered the safest flights in the world.  They became stricter about what you’re allowed to have with you on the plane, and they also lost billions of dollars because many people didn’t want to cross over seas anymore if it meant taking a plane.  As soon as the planes hit, the twin towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington DC and an area in Pennsylvania, all US airlines were shut down immediately, and no one was allowed to fly. Some people were held up at airports for a couple hours, a day or even more. Airlines lost a dramatic amount of money because people did not want to fly overseas anymore because they were concerned about their own safety, the United States visa policy became more restrictive, and because of the economy, no one wanted to waste money on flying when they could try to be safer by driving or another way of transportation because a lot of people were scared for their lives or flying. Many people today will still not fly in an airplane, 11 years later.

American Airlines took the terrorist attack very seriously, and boosted their security system. Before 9/11 people could arrive half an hour before their flight and still make it on time, now it’s better to get to the airport about 3 hours before departing time, because it takes much longer for every passenger to get through security without interruptions. People are now put through metal detectors, and are also patted down in case something slipped through the detectors. People had to start unpacking their brief cases, pulling out everything in their pockets and putting them on a metal table where security looks through it.
9/11 had a ripple effect on our economy, and affected everyone across the world. Even though the terrorist’s only crashed 3 different planes in the United States, and the passengers from the fourth plane tried to stop the hijackers from targeting another place, but crashed the plane anyway. Countries from all over the world were shocked and determined to change their security systems as well. Major airlines declared bankruptcy after this event.

After 9/11 so many objects weren’t allowed to be with the passengers on the plane. Most belongings were tucked back underneath the planes in storage.  Any type of sharp object is forbidden aboard the plane with you. Baseball bats, lacrosse sticks, bows and arrows, BB guns, pellet guns, axes and hatches, crowbars, drills,  hammers, saws, matches, tools, screwdrivers wrenches…etc. Firearms are carried as checked baggage; they MUST be unloaded, packed in a locker hard-sided, and declared to the airline at check-in. Some items that are now restricted seem a little over the top, but terrorist can find a way to make day to day ordinary objects, harmful. Even though most passengers would think they need some of these objects with them, they are still forbidden and could be used as weapons.

Security wasn’t the only thing that changed after September 11, 2001. Hijacking the plane was way too easy for the terrorists. Now every aircraft’s cockpit door locks from the inside, so only pilots can open it. Another precaution is Secure Flight Program. SFP is a set of questions each passenger has to answer to buy the airplane ticket. They have to fill in 3 questions. One, there name used in their traveling ID, Two: date of birth, and three: their gender. Before the passengers can enter the plane their names have to go through a search whether they are on the “do not fly list,” or not. If they were not put on this list then they are free to go on their flight as planned, but if they were then they are to be held back from further access to the planes.

As you can see, September 11, 2001 impacted so many people all over the wall, American airlines lost a huge amount of money, thousands of people were killed, and many families still continue dealing with an enormous tragedy the world will never forget.

country analysis of Mozambique

Where do you see globalization in this story?
People are affected by globalization in this story because the producing of wheat has shut down and it is causing the price of bread to rise more and more.

How is Mozambique impacted by globalization?
The people of Mozambique became very mad and upset and began to riot against the producers because they couldn’t afford the bread with their dollar-a-day income because of the fires and droughts causing the wheat price to rise. Also, to stop the people from rioting, the government decided to subside the price of bread.
